Luca Sára Rózsa - LOST PARADISE (It's drama!)

hu | eng

date: 12th – 29th of April 2018.
opening: 7pm 12th of April 2018.
opening speech by: Gergő Tornyi; artist

“As in Europe (or in Western civilization) the passing of time has worn the unquestionability of religion thin with diluted faith, many individuals may feel compelled to create their independent view of the world. This endeavour often results in a curious syncretism, which, however, continues to rely on each individual’s cultural embeddedness (despite honest efforts to reject it), while blending with all sorts of new influences, as well as with their own imagination. Syncretism which, to disguise his or her despair, the individual then shores up with rational arguments.

The paintings in this exhibition are organized into a kind of iconic order, as if to evoke permanence and some sort of manifest superiority. And yet there is something unsettling and bizarre about them, as if by infiltration. Faces are permeated with disquiet and so are the syrupy colours and the improbability of the space. These pictures are ways of expressing possible answers which nevertheless carry indestructible and long-established afterlife formulas, as well as the topoi of art that traditionally correspond to them.” – Sára Luca Rózsa
